2023-01-5150
The experimental investigation aims to improve natural composite materials aligned with feasible development principles. These composites can be exploited across several industries, including the automobile and biomedical sectors. This research employs date seed powder and neem gum powder as reinforcing agents, along with polyester resin as the base material. The fabrication route comprises compression moulding, causing the production of the natural composite material. This study focuses extensively on mechanical characteristics such as tensile strength, flexural strength, hardness, and impact resistance to undergo comprehensive testing. Furthermore, the chemical properties of the composites are examined using the FTIR test to gain understanding by integrating different proportions of date seed powder (5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%) and neem gum powder (0%, 3%, 6%, and 9%) in the matrix phase.

Structure and Behaviour Characteristics of Aluminum –Nickel- Zinc Alloy by Spray Forming

2024-02-23
2023-01-5120
The microstructure of the alloy and the manner in which it responds to heat treatment has been investigated. The alloy was aged at 550OC when it was initially spray-formed, or when its thickness was decreased by 38%. Before further aging of some specimens, a four-hour solution treatment at 1015OC was performed. The subsequent phase was a cold deformation that was barely 60% of the sample's initial thickness. The alloys' electrical conductivity and hardness may be evaluated based on how long they had been created. Following solution treatment and cold rolling, the alloy's peak hardness was around 380 kgf/mm2. In samples aged immediately under spray-produced conditions, the maximum peak hardness of 255 kgf/mm2 was attained. Conductivities in freshly cold-rolled samples could reach up to 75% of the standard for annealed copper internationally. It looks at the microstructural features of this alloy in this context, paying close attention to how various processing conditions affect them.

Topology, Morphologies, and Material Properties of 40% Aluminium-10% Nickel Boride Alloys as a Function of Recrystallization Rate

2024-02-23
2023-01-5112
The study will involve conducting analyses on microstructures consisting of 40% aluminium and 10% nickel, with variations in the rate of hardening. The aluminium and nickel, both of commercial grade, were subjected to a crucible furnace where they were heated to a temperature of 1600 degrees Celsius until they reached a molten state. The utilization of permanent moulds was necessary for casting the metal at temperatures of 20, 60, and 100 degrees Celsius. In order to document the freezing curvature of the castings, a centralized data collection technique was implemented. The microstructure and mechanical properties of this alloy were examined by researchers. The rate of solidification was observed to increase and the duration of the process was observed to decrease as the temperature of the mould was reduced. The microstructure has been modified due to disparities in solidification rates.

Multi-objective Optimization of Injection Molding Process Based on One-Dimensional Convolutional Neural Network and the Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm II

2024-01-29
Abstract In the process of injection molding, the vacuum pump rear housing is prone to warping deformation and volume shrinkage, which affects its sealing performance. The main reason is the improper control of the injection process and the large flat structure of the vacuum pump rear housing, which does not meet its production and assembly requirements (the warpage deformation should be controlled within 1.1 mm and the volume shrinkage within 10%). To address this issue, this study initially utilized orthogonal experiments to obtain training samples and conducted a preliminary analysis using gray relational analysis. Subsequently, a predictive model was established based on a one-dimensional convolutional neural network (1D CNN).

Foam and FRP Sheets Packaging for Headliner Stiffness at Curtain Airbag Area

2024-01-16
2024-26-0008
As we all know, automotive headliners are an essential component of any car’s interior as they cover all the internal components and provide a clean and finished look. Headliners not only increase the aesthetic appeal of a car’s interior, but also acts as an insulation and sound absorption source. As per the latest Government norms, Curtain Airbag (henceforth called as CAB) has been made mandatory and this change calls for the corresponding changes in the Headliner packaging of all passenger vehicles. In general, curtain air-bag deployment calls for a twist open of Headliner at lateral sides (a portion below Hinge-line) during the deployment. This enables the inflated airbag to flow inside the passenger cabin to protect the passenger from any injury. Conventionally no components are packaged below the hinge-line area of headliner to avoid obstruction for CAB deployment and any part fly-off concerns.

Optimizing Intralogistics in an Engineer-to-Order Enterprise with Job Shop Production: A Case Study of the Control Cabinet Manufacturing

2024-01-16
Abstract This study underscores the benefits of refining the intralogistics process for small- to medium-sized manufacturing businesses (SMEs) in the engineer-to-order (ETO) sector, which relies heavily on manual tasks. Based on industrial visits and primary data from six SMEs, a new intralogistics concept and process was formulated. This approach enhances the value-added time of manufacturing workers while also facilitating complete digital integration as well as improving transparency and traceability. A practical application of this method in a company lead to cutting its lead time by roughly 11.3%. Additionally, improved oversight pinpointed excess inventory, resulting in advantages such as reduced capital needs and storage requirements. Anticipated future enhancements include better efficiency from more experienced warehouse staff and streamlined picking methods. Further, digital advancements hold promise for cost reductions in administrative and supportive roles.

Research on the Forming Process of Bimetal Composite Pipe by Hydroforming

2024-01-15
2024-01-5001
Bimetal composite pipe has higher strength and is more corrosion and high temperature resistant compared to single metal pipe, making it a new type of pipe that is being gradually applied to important industrial fields such as aviation and aerospace manufacturing. To study the hydraulic forming mechanism of bimetal composite pipes, the forming process is divided into three stages: liner pipe elastic–plastic deformation, base pipe loading, and unloading. The stress and strain relation between the liner and base pipe during the gradual increase in hydraulic pressure is analyzed, and the range of selected internal pressure required for composite pipe formation and the relation between residual contact pressure and internal pressure for the liner–base pipe interface are obtained.

INCORPORATING METHODS OF GRAPHENE IN POLYMERIC NANOCOMPOSITES TOWARDS AUTOMOTIVE APPLICATIONS -A BRIEF REVIEW

2024-01-08
2023-36-0015
This work aims to develop a PA6 nanocomposite with glass fiber (GF) and graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs) focusing on automotive parts application. Polyamide 6 is a semi-crystalline polymer that exhibits high fatigue and flexural strength, making it viable for rigorous applications. Along with the improved electrical, mechanical, thermal, and optical performance achieved in PA6 and GF-based nanocomposites, they can fill complex geometries, have great durability, and are widely utilized due to their capacity of reducing the weight of the vehicle besides a cost reduction potential. The glass fiber is a filamentary composite, usually aggregated in polymeric matrices, which aims to amplify the mechanical properties of polymers, mainly the tensile strength in the case of PA6.

DP800 formability improvement in structure vehicle component

2024-01-08
2023-36-0071
The application of local advanced steels has challenges to overcome such as stampability requirements to meet manufacturing processes. Several technological alternatives have been studied to improve sheet steel formability and this work focuses on material selection. Dual Phase 800 steel has an important performance for structural parts involved in body-in-white (BIW) to reach durability and material impact resistance. On those alternatives references the coating application to reduce the friction coefficient and makes the formability process easier to mitigate drawing stamping issues. The study deals with DP800 formability analysis applied in automotive seats, mainly on anchorage components, searching for alternatives to a better material stampability and local availability with a lower cost. These tests approached formability simulations and FLD (Forming Limit Diagrams) to compare the imported DP800-Uncoated and the local DP800EG + Phosphate steels.
